🌿 Grief Circle: Journey of Release & Communal Support
Join us in our cozy Bushwick studio for a deeply supportive grief circle, where somatic release meets the warmth of community. Surrounded by a lovingly curated altar, soothing scents and sounds, and inviting spaces, this workshop welcomes you to explore the depths of your emotions through creative expression, gentle movement, and heartfelt reflection.
💔 Honoring Grief in All Its Forms
Our focus is grief—the universal response to loss, whether of a loved one, a relationship, a job, a home, or an old version of yourself. We also hold space for ancestral grief and collective mourning for the planet and all beings. Grief shows up in many ways: sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety, or physical sensations like fatigue, tension, and changes in sleep or appetite. However your grief appears, you are welcome.
🤝 Guided by Compassion
This event is co-facilitated by trauma-sensitive yoga teachers Jen and Anthea, who bring their lived experience and gentle wisdom. Having navigated deep grief themselves, they have created this space so you can process hard-to-reach emotions within a caring community.
🔥 Opening Ceremony & Community Altar
Arrive to a circle of mats and blankets, centered around a communal altar. Please bring items such as flowers, stones, photos, art, or candles to contribute. The altar symbolizes our shared energy and intention; you’ll take your items home afterward.
🌱 Grounding & Creative Sharing
We begin with a grounding practice and community sharing to help everyone feel comfortable, seen, and supported. Using colored pencils and paper, you’ll gently explore your feelings, fears, and hopes. Space is held to honor the griefs of our ancestors and to share only as much as feels comfortable.
💃 Somatic Release & Free Movement
Express your emotions through movement, shaking, Qi Gong meridian tapping, breath, and sound. Props like pillows, scarves, and dancing wings offer support. Jen and Anthea will guide you with prompts and hands-on support, helping you connect more deeply with your grief and release energy in your own way.
🫖 Integration & Nourishment
Return to your cozy spot for creative reflection—drawing, journaling—and enjoy nourishing tea, chocolate, and fruit as you process and settle your emotions.
🌕 Closing Circle & Burning Ritual
Share your insights and transformations in a final circle. Together, we’ll participate in a gentle burning ritual, releasing what we’re ready to let go of and sending our intentions into the universe.
💌 After Care & Resources
Each participant will receive an aftercare sheet with practices, journal prompts, and resources for continued integration at home.
